Nothing can happen without insurance. Businesses. Homes. Cars. Because of this, you can specialize in something you love! Do you like skiing? Specialize in insuring ski resorts. Like classic cars? You can do that, too.
Additionally, insurance is a recession proof industry. Individuals and businesses need and often are required to carry insurance even in tough economic times. Agencies are less likely to lay off staff than large corporations during a recession.

Independent insurance agencies boil down to one thing. Personalization. Independent agents provide their clients with policies that are customized and tailored specifically to each client’s needs.
Unlike big-name insurance companies that offer cookie-cutter policies, independent agencies work with multiple insurance providers to find the policy that’s right for their clients. This means customers get personalized attention and a customized policy that fits their unique situation.
But that’s not all. Independent insurance agencies offer a level of customer service that you won’t find with larger companies. Clients who work with an independent agency get a dedicated agent who knows them and their specific needs. The core of an independent agent is this; you’re not just a policy number, you’re a valued client.
The perfect way to dive into the Independent Insurance Industry is with the Summer Internship Program.
Internships will be with one of our member agencies. Our members reside in every county in Ohio and range from small family-owned agencies to larger agencies with 20 or more employees.
While OIA is coordinating the internship program, interns will be interviewed, selected, and employed by the individual agencies. The HR policies and guidelines of the agency will apply to the internship.
