The OIA Foundation began in 2009 with the goal to advance the professional development of independent insurance agents.
OIA established the Foundation for the Advancement of Insurance Professionals to “support the development and implementation of internships, programs and grants that will enhance the insurance industry”.
Tim Stolly and Jeannine Giesler were on the first Board of Directors. Tim and Jeannine still serve to this day.
The Foundation’s signature event, the Internship Program Golf Outing Fundraiser which was used to raise funds solely for the Foundation for the Advancement of Insurance Professionals is no longer held.

This annual scholarship program validates OIA’s commitment to developing the next generation of industry leaders. The skills that an agent and agency owner need to possess to be successful has never been greater than right now. For long-term success in the industry, the scholarship encourages agents to be lifelong learners, find good mentors and be curious.
