Independent agents emerged strong from this historic 2024 election. This article breaks down what the results mean for agents and the insurance industry on both the state and national stage.
Read ArticleThrough continual government and insurance community advocacy efforts, OIA keeps professional independent insurance agents informed and at the table when important legislation, regulations and company changes are considered.
A key component of OIA’s advocacy efforts is to keep agent clout strong through the success of OIA’s political action committee, Ohio Insurance Agents Political Action Committee (OIA PAC). OIA PAC helps independent agents across the state have a voice in the political arena by supporting the election of the right leaders – those who share OIA’s views of supporting a strong economy and competitive insurance marketplace.
OIA is incredibly fortunate to have members serving within the Ohio House of Representatives. Speaker Jason Stephens and Rep. Brian Lampton have been in the statehouse advocating for the IA industry for multiple years now and have been instrumental in assisting the OIA in advocating for IA initiatives.
Stephens is in his second full term in the Ohio House after being appointed in 2019 and represents Gallia, Jackson, and Lawrence Counties. Since 1996, Stephens has been a licensed insurance agent at Stephens & Son Insurance Agency, Inc. and, since 1999, is a co-owner of Stephens & Son Insurance of Chesapeake, Inc.
State Representative Brian Lampton is currently serving his second term as State Representative for the 70th Ohio house district, which includes the western portion of Greene County. Representative Lampton has been the owner and operator of Lampton/Engle & Associates Insurance for over 30 years.
