DUBLIN, OH – The Ohio Insurance Agents Association (OIA) is excited to announce a nationwide search for its next Chief Executive Officer. After nearly a decade of extraordinary leadership in his current role, current CEO Jeff Smith will step down at the end of 2027, paving the way for a thoughtful and seamless transition.
Under Jeff’s guidance, OIA has become a stronger, more innovative, and effective advocate in serving our members. “Jeff’s vision, tireless energy, and unwavering commitment to independent agents have left an indelible mark on this association and on each of us,” says Katie Watson, OIA Board Chair. “We are deeply grateful for everything he has accomplished and feel confident in the position we are in to execute a smooth transition.”
We now invite you to help shape OIA’s future. We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader who will:
- Develop innovative business solutions to assist members in navigating the operational, technological and competitive challenges in the IA system
- Drive advocacy, membership growth, and member value
- Strengthen relationships with carriers, regulators, and industry partners
- Build an innovative, collaborative, and inclusive culture at OIA
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 10+ years of progressive leadership in insurance, business or associations
- Proven success in innovation, fiscal management, and team building
- Deep commitment to independent agents and Ohio communities
- Property & Casualty license and/or Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred
We are conducting a thorough, inclusive national search and truly value your input. Our goal is for the new CEO to begin in the summer of 2026, ensuring a full year of overlap with Jeff for a successful onboarding and smooth transition.
