OIA Launches New P&C Pre-Licensing Program

P&C pre-licensing now in Ohio with OIA

Ohio Insurance Agents Association launches a new Property & Casualty pre-licensing course in partnership with the Greater Cincinnati Insurance Board

COLUMBUS, OH (April 2025) – The Ohio Insurance Agents Association (OIA), in collaboration with the Greater Cincinnati Insurance Board (GCIB), is proud to introduce a new Ohio property and casualty (P&C) pre-licensing course designed to prepare future insurance professionals for licensure in the state of Ohio.

This new offering delivers a flexible hybrid learning experience that blends the structure of live instruction with the convenience of self-paced study—all while meeting the Ohio Department of Insurance’s 40-hour course requirement. Unlike fully self-guided courses, learners will benefit from access to knowledgeable instructors through facilitated webinars. The course content, originally developed by the GCIB, has been enhanced by OIA’s instructional design team to improve engagement, retention, and learner outcomes.

The course will be led by a team of insurance professionals with over 50 years of combined industry experience. Instructors include Chris Kendall, Executive Director of the Greater Cincinnati Insurance Board; Cristie Tillery, Market Access Manager at OIA; and Ashley Fitzsimmons, OIA’s Director of Professional Development.

The pilot course will run from May 19–23, 2025, with additional sessions offered June 16–20, July 21–25, and August 18–22, providing multiple opportunities for prospective students to participate throughout the summer.

Course pricing is set at $359 for GCIB and OIA members (including company partners) and $389 for non-members. To celebrate the launch, OIA is offering a 50% discount on registration for the May pilot session as part of its commitment to refining the course based on participant feedback.

Registration for the May course is now live. To complete the registration process for the upcoming courses, students will first need to complete user registration on OIA’s website at the following: ohioinsuranceagents.com/pre-licensing-courses/

For more information about the pre-licensing program, please contact Brian Lawrence, Senior Director of Talent & Professional Development at OIA, by calling (614) 552-3048 or emailing brian@ohioinsuranceagents.com.
