Celebrate Industry Excellence

Each year, OIA proudly recognizes outstanding agents and company partners through its annual awards. These honors are a meaningful way to show that their contributions matter and are deeply valued. The awards ceremony serves as a celebration of excellence, gratitude, and individual achievement across the IA system.

We invite you to join us in recognizing the best of the best by nominating your peers for an OIA Award! Nominations are reviewed by the OIA Governance Committee, and winners are selected based on the strength of these submissions. Both award recipients and their nominators will be notified this fall and invited to attend the Awards Ceremony in December.

The nomination window closes on August 8, 2025. See nomination details below:

Industry Person of the Year Independence Bell Award – honors an individual who has significantly contributed to the betterment of the independent agency system and OIA. Honorees may be chosen from any field and are not limited to those within the insurance industry.

Excellence in Leadership Award – honors an OIA volunteer who has provided outstanding leadership and service to the association in the preceding year.

Community Service Award – honors an independent insurance agent or agency that has provided extraordinary service within their local community. The winner receives a $2,500 donation to the charity of their choice.

Outstanding Company Achievement Eagle Award – honors a company that has demonstrated outstanding achievement and superior performance in a specific area such as leadership, innovation, technology, perpetuation and/or customer service for the betterment of the independent agency system.

Best Agency Video of the Year Award – a 3 to 5-minute video, which tells the agency’s “Why”; explains the value of an Independent Agent; and is creative, concise, captivating, memorable, and unique. The winner will receive a $250 gift card from Best Buy.

Public Service Award – honors an individual who is making outstanding contributions and whose accomplishments are models of exemplary public service in their community.

Jeanie Giesler Culture Catalyst Award – honors an independent insurance agency employee who serves as the gateway to internal and external audiences to raise awareness and tell the story of the value of an independent agent.
