NEW P&C Pre-Licensing Course

With centuries of combined experience supporting Ohio’s insurance professionals, the Greater Cincinnati Insurance Board (GCIB) and the Ohio Insurance Agents Association (OIA) have partnered to launch a new property and casualty insurance pre-licensing course designed for modern learners.

Starting May 19–23, 2025, OIA will pilot this hybrid pre-licensing program that blends convenience and instruction: 20 hours of flexible, self-paced online learning paired with 20 hours of engaging live webinar sessions.

Pre-licensing Program Details

Starting in May 2025, Ohioans looking to become P&C licensed will have access to:

Flexibility in Learning

The new P&C course offering will combine self-paced study with live webinar instruction, optimizing for the preference in learning.

The course will be 20 hours of self-paced learning which will be completed in the mornings. This will be followed by 20 hours of live, instructor led sessions in the afternoons.

Member-Exclusive Pricing

Members and company partners of the OIA along with members of the Greater Cincinnati Insurance Board will receive member-exclusive pricing of $359. SPECIAL DISCOUNT: Tuition will be 50% off for the May course for all registrants!

Highly Qualified Instructors

The course will be led by a team of insurance professionals with over 50 years of combined industry experience. Instructors include Chris Kendall, Executive Director of the Greater Cincinnati Insurance Board; Cristie Tillery, Market Access Manager at OIA; and Ashley Fitzsimmons, OIA’s Director of Professional Development.

Study Resources & Test Preparation

Participants will gain access to a free electronic course manual featuring over 300 pages. Prefer having a hard copy? For an additional cost, you can have one mailed to you.

You’ll also gain access to a practice exam formatted with a large question bank to allow for multiple practice tests.

Additional Education Options

Although this program will primarily focus on property and casualty licensure, life and health courses will continue to be available—at a discounted rate for members—and open to non-members as well, offered through in-person and virtual formats.
