Group rating is a program employers can access to reduce workers’ compensation rates. Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) permits employers to join together to be “rated” as a group through a sponsoring organization, such as Ohio Insurance Agents Association (OIA), to save money.
More than 78,000 Ohio employers have joined a group rating plan. OIA’s plan is one of the largest in Ohio and is administered by Sedgwick.
As a member, you owe it to your organization to explore all of the savings options available to you. Exploring your options is simple. For a free, no-obligation analysis, click here to request a savings analysis by completing an AC-3 form for your agency.
You can also access this AC-3 form on behalf of your clients to get them enrolled in the program and earn commission. Don’t forget to add your agency name to the top left side of the form (above “Sedgwick”).

BWC has approved some changes that impact employers participating in a group rating program. Review the Group Rating Safety Accountability Letter.
OIA’s Colleen Barbara and Sedgwick’s Rejeana Woolum-Napier will walk you through the benefits and give you the step-by-step tutorial to enroll your agency and your clients in our OIA Workers’ Comp Group Program.
No. Some plans inflate projected savings and are not large enough to form stable groups. When this occurs, employers find their actual savings are less than expected. OIA’s plan does not inflate projected savings and is large enough to form stable groups in all industries.
With OIA’s program, you can get the maximum allowable discount. Most employers in our group save the maximum!
Your eligibility for group rating may change from year to year. Even if you have not qualified in the past, you could qualify through OIA.
You may switch plans on an annual basis to save more money. Contact us to fill out a no-hassle AC-3 form.
Yes. Annual dues vary widely and reduce your savings. Some organizations’ dues are more than $1,000, but OIA’s dues are minimal.
After submitting an AC-3 form, if eligible, you will receive enrollment information that projects your savings for the next year. We can assist you in comparing service coverage and related costs.
The Ohio Insurance Agents Association (OIA) workers’ compensation (WC) group programs are known for saving Ohio businesses millions of dollars, but that is just a part of what we do. Our members and your clients benefit in many other ways with our WC programs, including account rounding, additional risk management services, case management and safety tools.
Your clients depend on you for their insurance needs – it should only be a natural fit to manage their risks when it comes to workers’ comp insurance, too.
